ID Bureau Description

Let us help with your identification needs with our in-house ID Card design and printing service.

SG World is an in-house printer of ID cards, able to print customised cards to suit all of your needs in quantities from one to 1,000. We produce ID cards using thermal retransfer printers, which use heated rollers to press colour onto a card and create a permanent image.

Our process creates an edge-to-edge (full bleed colour) finish in the colour or design of your choice. Our printers are capable of producing colour and black-only reverses, and can add an ultraviolet surface layer to your ID cards as an added security feature.

SG World ID cards are the size of an average debit card (measuring 54 mm x 85 mm, 0.75mm thick). You can choose from:

  • Standard (plain) cards
  • Adhesive-backed cards
  • Electronic re-write cards (reverse-side printing also available)
  • Encoded magnetic strip cards - Signature strip cards
  • Combination of magnetic and signature strip cards (reverse-side printing restricted)
  • Portable “Key ring” barcode cards (29 mm x 54 mm, 0.72mm thick)

The SG World ID Bureau can print onto any new proximity card. We are able to duplicate encoded data if supplied with a current, working sample.

Supply of customer information and images

  1. Logos should be supplied in as high a quality as possible. While we can use logos of a quality which would not be acceptable for litho printing it is always best to obtain the highest possible quality logo available.
  2. Once the draft and logo has been received the ID bureau will send the proof to both the customer and the SG World Sales Executive handling the account. The proof is open to amends until the customer is happy to proceed with printing.
  3. The ID bureau will contact the customer in the event that the card design is approved and no photographs have been provided. Orders which are not completed will be returned to the Sales Executive managing the account for follow-up after eight weeks without activity.
  4. Data to be printed on the cards should be supplied as an Excel, Word or other text file with entries referenced to the corresponding photograph/signature file(s).
  5. Photographs/Signatures should be supplied as individual files in .bmp, .jpg or .tif formats, named to correspond to the relevant entry in the supplied data file. 
  6. For cards with limited variable (changeable text) information, such as simple photographic IDs, you can provide all of the information in the name of your image. E.g. we can print a card for Susan Sample, Administrative Assistant, if you provide us with the image for the card named “Susan Sample – Administrative Assistant.jpg”
  7. We are unable to accept photographs/signatures which have been embedded within an Excel, Word or Publisher file, they must be separate image files.
  8. We are able to receive e-mails that are under 8MB in size. Larger orders containing data and image files should be burned to a CD or saved to a USB memory device and posted to the ID department along with the order and draft details.

For orders where data has been provided on USB stick or CD, the media will be returned to you with the completed ID cards. The ID Bureau endeavours to print cards within five days of order approval and data availability.

Delivery Options

Most of our orders are delivered by FedEx, however small parcels and ID cards will be delivered recorded delivery via Royal Mail.

Next day delivery is subject to stock availability and excludes orders placed on weekends or bank holidays. The delivery type cannot be changed online once your order has been placed. If your order was damaged, has missing items or contains products which you did not order, please contact us at ncr@sgworld.com for further assistance.

Items can be returned and refunded, minus a handling fee, if they are in good condition, have not been used, and are not opened. A return delivery charge will apply unless the return is due to damage or a mistake by SG World Ltd.

Credit Notes will be processed on your return once the goods have been received by us; until they are received by SG World they remain your property. We highly recommend using a ‘signed for’ return delivery service such as Royal Mail Recorded Delivery.

Imprinted and special or made-to-order items will not be accepted for return under any circumstances.
