Job Title: Sales Executive (Public Sector)
Location: Living in Birmingham area

Please note, due to the nature of this role only candidates living in the area(s) listed above will be considered.

Job Purpose: fgdfgdgb in a given territory selling to all public sector outlets excluding the commercial and industrial sector (as defined). To sell the full range of SG World products available to this sector, at the authorised profit margin; promote new SG World products to existing customers, expanding products currently in use, and opening new accounts.

Dimension and Scope: Territory planning, determine customer and prospect initiatives to introduce the SG World range of products. Agree working plans with Telesales to achieve required level of appointments.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Improve and grow business within the Sales Territory
  • Achieve all sales targets allocated
  • Open a minimum of 100 new accounts annually
  • Ensure that a minimum of 16 New Business calls are completed weekly
  • Prepare a weekly mailing to generate appointments
  • Visit a minimum of 10 customers weekly
  • Represent SG World in a professional and courteous manner at all times
  • Establish a rapport and build a good relationship with all customers
  • Give customers the best possible service at all times
  • Make appointments with existing customers or new prospects
  • Ask for referrals in each of the accounts either internal or external
  • Adhere to good working relations with colleagues
  • Create business plans to achieve targets and prospects to achieve plan
  • Set objectives for existing customers
  • Enlist with local business groups to help networking for referral purposes
  • Complete all activity and customer reports in the designated manner.
  • Liaise daily with Telesales
  • Comply with the business wishes of the Sales Manager
  • Present SG World range of products to customers/prospects using the SG World call guidance as per sales training
  • Research and revise product and business knowledge to maintain level of understanding
  • Maintain sufficient samples, data, equipment etc to fulfil each appointment professionally
  • Maintain the company vehicle as required keeping it clean and tidy at all times
  • Ensure you are well groomed and dressed appropriately for all company business

Critical Skills and Knowledge:

Personal Specification

The person for this role must be able to demonstrate:

  • Preferably 2 years’ experience of selling into the public sector including cold calling, opening accounts and extending products in use
  • Must be enthusiastic and able to communicate well with customers
  • Must be self-motivated with a confident yet friendly demeanour
  • Must show the right attitude to the company, the customers and the role
  • Be prepared for hard work, change and new ideas
  • Be computer literate and able to utilise computing equipment for demonstration and reporting purposes


  • To achieve all targets set for territory
  • To achieve a minimum of 16 new business appointments per week
  • To achieve a minimum of 30 cold calls per week for future appointments and 10 customer visits
  • Maintain acceptable standard of product and background knowledge
  • Prepare and present quarterly business plans to line manager
  • Present and represent SG World and products as per sales training
  • Update daily the SG World administration/diary system
