As pre-shift inspections for fork lift trucks are recommended as HSE best practice; and PUWER and LOLER require you to make sure that equipment that you use is safe, most companies have some kind of system in place, but how do you do yours?

Does your system consist of a photocopied checklist that is completed each day?  How do you know that your drivers are doing the inspection each day and not just completing the week’s inspection paperwork on a Friday afternoon?  Does your system have a highly visible method of letting others know that the fork lift truck is safe for use?
