Industry News » IOSH 2009 Review - Health & Safety Still A Priority Despite Recession
20-04-2009
High visitor numbers to the recent IOSH '09 event gives Jamie Norman, SG World’s Marketing Manager, confidence that the HSE message of not neglecting Health & Safety in times of recession is getting through to businesses.
Having recently exhibited at IOSH ’09 in the prestigious new BT Convention Centre in Liverpool, Jamie was pleased to see high numbers of visitors to both the conference and exhibition. He explained “It seems that the HSE message of not cutting corners in Health & Safety in times of recession is getting through to organisations. Obviously businesses have to be careful with their spend but the attendance at the two-day event has proved that Health & Safety professionals are still very much open to new ideas and seeing how they can make today’s workplaces safer still”.
Regular inspections can reduce maintenance costs
He went on to say “Speaking from a personal point of view, it was encouraging that so many visitors to our own stand were looking at our inspection systems for fork lift trucks, ladders, warehouse racking and scaffold.
In times of recession regular inspections are critical, not only for safety but also in reducing maintenance costs. A fork lift truck for example, is going to cost a lot less to maintain if regularly inspected, rather than if left until something goes wrong that subsequently causes other items to fail or worse still, causes an accident with all its incumbent costs”.
SG World’s range of pre-use and daily inspection systems are available for:
- Fork Lift Trucks
- Pallet Racking
- Ladders
- MEWPs
- Cars
- HGVs
- Work Stations
- Pendant Cranes
- Bespoke inspection systems can also be created.
