School Health and Safety Myths #1 - Bonkers about Conkers

SG World are all about solutions that keep students safe and sound at school but even we recognize you can have too much of a good thing.  In this blog series we'll be mythbustingsome of the stories you will have seen in the press where schools look like they're taking H&S a bit too far. Let's start with the old chestnut that schools are making kids wear special protective gear to play conkers or just banning it all together.

What the HSE say:  Realistically the risk from playing conkers is incredibly low and just not worth bothering about. If kids deliberately hit each other over the head with conkers, that's a discipline issue, not health and safety.
