When Visitor Check-In Screens Go Bad . . .
There’s nothing more frustrating than a computer which just isn’t “playing ball.” An automated visitor check-in screen in the reception is a wonderful thing – quick, efficient and great for freeing up time for busy admin staff.
However if your screen hardware falls over it can cause frustrating bottlenecks plus it’s not making the positive impression you want to make with your visitors.

There are several issues with using a consumer computing device in an application such as a reception touchscreen, often resulting in annoying downtime and a poor visitor experience.
• Temperature Range – Visitor check-in screens are usually positioned in reception areas, near to the main entrance. With doors continually opening and closing the screen can get exposed to temperature/humidity ranges outside of a normal computer’s specification resulting in system failure
• Ruggedised Build – a visitor check-in screen is in continual operation with non-familiar users (some more heavy-handed than others!). This can put the system build under some stress unless it has been manufactured using highly durable components designed for heavy use. For example a consumer device system fan will struggle in a reception environment and is the most common reason for public-facing touchscreens failing.
• Secured Connectors – in a heavy footfall area, it’s very easy for someone to knock a connector out of position. Our connector ports are covered to prevent them becoming dislodged and situated for a neat finish with minimum exposed cabling
• Over time a normal bevelled screen will collect everyday dust and detritus, our screens use a flat glass fascia to prevent this build up and make cleaning easy.
