Wristbands

The DfE Health and Safety of Pupils on Educational Visits Handbook is packed with practical information and advice for group leaders organising an educational visit. Child Wristbands are a simple tool which can help address a number of recommendations made in the handbook. They can be printed quickly and cheaply in house and adapted for each trip.
Ensure that each adult knows which pupils they are responsible for and each pupil knows which adult is responsible for them - Handbook Section 1: Responsibility
Use wristband colour options to quickly identify a group and their group leader.
Have a meeting place to return to, or an instruction to remain where they are, if separated - Handbook Section 1: Responsibility
If there is a rendezvous point, make a note of it on your wristband.
Ensure that pupils are readily identifiable, especially if the visit is to a densely populated area. - Handbook Section 1: Headcounts
Wristbands readily identify a school group. The wristbands themselves are waterproof, highly durable and difficult to remove accidently.
Avoid identification that could put pupils at risk e.g. name badges. -
Handbook Section 1: Headcounts
The Wristband is a simple way to identify pupils without disclosing individual information such as names.
Some schools find it useful to provide pupils with badges displaying the name of the school or hotel and an emergency contact number. -
Handbook Section 1: Headcounts
Other important information can be displayed on the wristband.
